Pilates (pronounced puh-LAH-teez) is a method of exercise developed nearly 100 years ago by German-born Joseph H. Pilates (1880-1967). It's designed to lengthen and strengthen your body without developing bulky muscles as seen in traditional weight training. The movements are performed from one continuous exercise to the next, strengthening one muscle group and stretching the opposing muscle group at the same time. They require a great deal of abdominal control and integrate the upper and lower extremities simultaneously. Instead of isolating muscle groups one by one as seen in free weights, the whole body is trained together yielding faster results.
Pilates Mill Creek offers Private and Semi-Private instruction which allows you to use all of the equipment in their studio with a certified instructor. Each session is 50 minutes in length every hour, on the hour from 6am to 8pm weekdays and Saturday's 9am to 3pm. They only allow a maximum ratio of three (3) to four (4) members to one (1) instructor for more personalized attention.
Each session, your instructor will constantly change your workout routine so that you will continue to see results and not plateau. Their Pilates classes burn about 350 calories per session to help you lose weight and inches. Since Pilates is resistance training, it can replace any other type of resistance training without developing bulky muscles as seen with free weights and machines in a gym.
Unlike a gym, they don't have joining fees, processing fees or first and last month dues. There is no cost just to be a member. You are qualified as a member with them after you purchase a package of sessions. You can get started with your first month on a Monthly Series of sessions for as low as $28.50 per session. First time customers also receive a complimentary introductory session.
